If your child is absent, you are required to write a note explaining the absence.
Please sign and date the note. Notes may be written in any language. Regular checks on students attendance are made by the Department of Education’s Home School Liaison Officers.
If your child arrives after 8.55am, he or she needs to go swiftly to class and explain the reason for lateness to the class teacher. If you are picking your child up before 2.45pm, you must come to the office and pick up a leave slip before collecting your child from class. Please remember that children under 16 are not allowed to collect unless accompanied by a note from the parent. Children should only be picked up early in cases or emergency.
When an absence is for reason other than illness, the school should be notified in writing and permission sought from the principal. These reasons include family holidays. Students travelling overseas for 6 months or more can enroll at the Sydney Distance Education School and receive lessons by email.
