This year Blaxcell Street has a Senior and a Junior Choir. Both of these choirs rehearsal each week with choir teachers Mrs Saad and Mrs Forster. Each year the Blaxcell Street Senior Choir participates in the mass choir for the ‘Our Spectacular’ Performance for the Granville district. This performance is held at the Sydney Opera House and requires a high level of commitment from the students. Students are required to attend weekly rehearsals at school as well as attend three rehearsals at Granville South High School where they rehearse with the conductor as well as over 560 students from other schools around the district. The concert theme for this year is ‘Out of this World’. Choir students at Blaxcell Street also have opportunities to perform at special school occasions, The Director’s Choice Concert and have previously performed live on Adam Spencer’s ABC Breakfast radio program as part of a multicultural initiative. The Senior Choir this year consists of students from Year 3 to Year 6 and the Junior Choir consists of students from Kindergarten to Year 2. Congratulations to Sandra Truong for gaining a position in the small solo group who will perform on stage at the Opera House this year in the ‘Our Spectacular’ Performance.
